Location: New Delhi, India

The Role

You connect dots others miss. FSR Global needs a research generalist who works across our full portfolio—power systems, digital infrastructure, market design, regulatory frameworks—synthesizing insights into coherent strategy. You’re not the deepest expert in any single domain; you’re the one who integrates what the specialists produce and translates it for decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

Research Integration

  • Lead cross-cutting research that spans technical, economic, and policy dimensions
  • Synthesize diverse inputs—academic literature, practitioner knowledge, stakeholder perspectives—into actionable frameworks
  • Identify connections and tensions between workstreams that specialists may not see
  • Drive strategic stakeholder engagement and capacity building programs to aid the upskilling of professionals in the ecosystem
  • Work with the senior management and Policy council to shape the research programs.

Problem Structuring

  • Frame ambiguous challenges into researchable questions and workplans
  • Anticipate second-order effects of policy interventions
  • Build conceptual frameworks that hold up across multiple constraints

Translation & Engagement

  • Bridge conversations between engineers, economists, policymakers, and technologists
  • Present research that works for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder processes requiring integration of competing perspectives

Research Leadership

  • Shape FSR Global’s research agenda for coherence across projects
  • Mentor specialists while maintaining integrative oversight
  • Learn new domains quickly as organizational priorities evolve

Qualifications

Education: PhD or Master’s in energy, engineering, economics, policy, or related field. Interdisciplinary work preferred over deep specialization.

Experience: 7-10+ years in roles requiring integration—strategy consulting, interdisciplinary research, program design, or cross-functional leadership. Track record of contributing meaningfully to unfamiliar domains.

Core Capabilities:

  • Systems thinking—sees feedback loops and interdependencies naturally
  • Synthesis—integrates disparate sources into clear narratives
  • Intellectual versatility—operates across technical and policy domains without needing to be the expert
  • Adaptive learning—develops working knowledge in new areas quickly
  • Communication—writes and presents for varied audiences; facilitates across professional languages

What We Offer

  • Work across FSR Global’s full portfolio with high autonomy
  • Direct engagement with India’s energy transition challenges
  • Platform to influence policy through systems-level thinking
  • Competitive compensation
