Beyond the Wires: Mayuri’s Journey of Resilience and Purpose 

When I was a little girl, the hum of electricity was more than just a sound – it was the soundtrack of my childhood. Growing up in an electricity department colony, I watched my father, an electrical engineer, dedicate his life to ensuring power reached every corner of our vast country. I dreamed of soaring above those power lines as a pilot, my imagination taking flight with every passing aircraft. 

But life, I’ve learned, rarely follows the flight plan we initially chart. 

My world changed dramatically when my father became entangled in a legal nightmare – a fabricated case that has lingered unresolved for decades. The injustice burned deep, redirecting my path from the skies to the courtroom. Law became my weapon, my way of understanding and fighting systemic challenges. What began as a reaction to protect my family transformed into a profound professional calling. 

While the legal field opened doors, my entry into the energy sector was almost serendipitous. My first job landed me in the legal department of a power distribution company. It was here that I began to see the threads connecting my father’s world to mine. Energy laws were not a formal discipline at the time, but I immersed myself in this uncharted territory, weaving through the intricate tapestry of distribution, transmission, generation, and trading. Over the years, I gained a panoramic view of the energy sector, eventually carving out a niche for myself.

Mr. MG Raoot and Mr. Gautam Ghosh, both retired professionals, showed me the true meaning of dedication to the energy sector. Their unwavering commitment became an enduring source of inspiration, teaching me that this field is more than just a career – it’s a calling to serve society through critical infrastructure. 

Then came Mr. Nishant Saxena, who saw something in me that I hadn’t yet recognized. “Communication isn’t just about words,” he would tell me, “it’s about creating understanding.” He didn’t just teach me; he transformed my perspective. Where others saw complex legal jargon, he taught me to see narratives waiting to be unveiled. He showed me that at the heart of every regulation, every policy, there’s a human story. 

Little did I know that this detour would lead me to my true passion – bridging the complex world of energy regulations with the powerful art of communication. 

My entry into the energy sector wasn’t just a career move; it was a calling. Each legal document, each regulatory framework became a story waiting to be understood. And stories, I discovered, are most powerful when they’re simplified, when they connect human experiences with intricate systems. 

My journey has been anything but linear. From navigating the intricate verticals of power distribution, transmission, generation, and trading to developing a unique expertise in strategic communications, I’ve learned that true impact comes from breaking down barriers – be they legal, technical, or communicational. 

When I’m not decoding energy policies or crafting communication strategies, you’ll find me pushing my limits. Ultramarathons, triathlons, solo backpacking across unexplored terrains – these aren’t just hobbies. They’re metaphors for my professional approach: persistence, adaptability, and the courage to venture into uncharted territories. 

Today, I stand at an interesting intersection. I’m not just a lawyer or a communication professional – I’m a storyteller who translates the complex language of energy regulations into narratives that inspire, educate, and drive change. My father’s unwavering commitment to bringing electricity to every home, the legal challenges that reshaped my path, my mentors’ wisdom – they’ve all converged to create my unique professional identity. 

The little girl who once dreamed of piloting aircraft now pilots conversations, guiding stakeholders through the nuanced landscape of India’s energy sector. My journey proves that our most significant flights aren’t always in the sky, but in the impact we create on the ground.
