About FSR Global:
FSR Global is a not-for profit independent regulatory hub of excellence focused on energy transitions in the Global South. Using a system thinking approach we aim at improving the quality of energy regulation by collaborating and co-creating knowledge with multi-stakeholders from the energy sector and beyond. We develop and disseminate knowledge through our 3-pillars of activities – training, policy dialogues and research, through Global North-South and Global South- South partnerships.
The Role
We are seeking a Power System Analyst (Simulations) to lead advanced modeling and technical assessments of India’s evolving electricity grid. The role focuses on evaluating grid stability, reliability, and feasibility of energy transition policies through cutting-edge power system simulations.
The insights generated will directly support ongoing projects and preparatory research at FSR Global, contributing to evidence-based policy and regulatory frameworks for India’s clean energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
1. Power System Modelling & Simulation
- Develop, maintain, and run detailed models of the Indian power grid using tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DigSilent PowerFactory, or EMTP.
- Conduct load flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses for future grid scenarios, including high renewable penetration, storage integration, and EV adoption.
- Perform grid impact assessments for renewable energy projects, transmission expansions, and innovative system resources.
2. Technical Analysis & Collaboration
- Collaborate with stakeholders to collect, validate, and integrate technical data into simulation models.
- Translate policy and regulatory questions into clear, technically rigorous simulation cases.
- Contribute to technical reports, whitepapers, and presentations, ensuring results are robust, actionable, and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
3. Framework Development & Capacity Building
- Provide simulation-based evidence to support the development of India Energy Stack use-cases.
- Contribute to technical handbooks, guidelines, and training materials for system operators, regulators, and policymakers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Systems Simulation & Analysis.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in power system modeling within a utility, system operator, research institution, or consultancy.
- Proficiency in at least one major simulation tool (PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, EMTP).
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics, control, and protection principles.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to clearly communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.
Remuneration: As per market standards in India.
