ROLE SUMMARY
The Principal Researcher is an integrative research leader who works across FSR Global’s portfolio, connecting power systems, digital infrastructure, market design, and regulatory frameworks into coherent strategy for decision-makers. The role emphasises synthesis, problem structuring, and agenda coherence across workstreams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research Integration and Strategy
- Lead cross-cutting research spanning technical, economic, and policy dimensions.
- Synthesize literature, practitioner knowledge, and stakeholder perspectives into actionable frameworks.
- Identify connections, tensions, and second-order effects across workstreams.
- Work with senior management and the Policy Council to shape coherent research programmes.
Problem Structuring
- Frame ambiguous challenges into researchable questions, workplans, and deliverable pathways.
- Build conceptual frameworks robust to multiple constraints and institutional realities.
Translation and Engagement
- Bridge conversations across engineers, economists, policymakers, and technologists.
- Present research to technical and non-technical audiences; facilitate processes requiring integration of competing perspectives.
Research Leadership
- Mentor specialists, uphold quality standards, and adapt quickly to evolving organisational priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD or Master’s degree in energy, engineering, economics, policy, or related field; interdisciplinary work preferred.
- 7–10+ years in roles requiring integration: strategy consulting, interdisciplinary research, programme design, or cross-functional leadership.
- Strong systems thinking, synthesis, and executive-grade communication.
- Strong quantitative capability, including the ability to structure and execute modelling and data analysis to support policy, market, and system-level insights.
